FullRewiring

Electrics are one of the first steps in building or renovating a home, it is for that reason that they can become messy and unsafe as they are added to over the duration of the property’s lifespan. We’ve seen some truly frightening wiring set-ups behind plasterboards and aside from being aesthetically wincing – they’re a potential safety hazard. Fortunately for our clients, we’re OCD, neat-freaks when it comes to rewiring and take pleasure in leaving electrical circuits in an orderly, safe state. If you’re moving into an older property, or are planning some large-scale renovation, it’s vitally important that you consider home rewiring before you make any further decisions.

Fuse boardupgrades

It’s not uncommon at all for a home to still be fitted with an outdated, old, and potentially dangerous fuse board. Your fuse board is the heart of all electrical installations around your home - anything less than an 18th edition consumer unit and you’re not likely protected against electrical hazards, such as electric shock and electrical fires.

We’re fully qualified to carry out the required works to make sure your fuse board is appropriately upgraded – providing your family with protection against potentially fatal incidents. Our fuse box replacements include:

  • A new 10-way/13-way 18th edition consumer unit with RCD protection
  • Full upgrade of earth bonding to gas and water supplies – for added safety
  • New fuse board materials that comply with the 18th edition of the wiring regulations
  • A complete and thorough test of your new fuse board
  • A certificate to confirm all work is complete and fully compliant with current regulations

FaultFinding

We’ve all experienced a lights out at home – most of the time a simple flick of a fuse switch is all that’s needed to get us back online. However, such occurrences shouldn’t be overlooked; often a blow fuse or tripped circuit is the result of a deeper, underlying fault. For that reason, it’s important to consult a professional if you’re unsure of the cause. One of our NICEIC approved electricians will be happy to help locate and resolve what’s caused an electrical fault using a 6-point Fault Finding approach, which is:

  1. Safety first – ensure all main power at the consumer unit is safe and can be accessed before any electrical work is carried out.
  2. Gather information – we’ll ask you when and how the fault occurred, what was happening at the time?
  3. Analyse information – fortunately, we’ve seen and dealt with such a broad variety of electrical faults that we can take this information and start to hone in on a potential cause.
  4. Investigate – we’ll then continue to dig deeper into any and all hypothesis we have until we find the fault.
  5. Rectify – once the fault has been found, we’ll repair the component to a high degree of safety standards.
  6. Test - once we’re sure a fix is in place and the fault has been put right, we’ll make sure to test and report on our work before leaving

GeneralMaintenance

General maintenance of your electrical systems can help you cut down on your energy bills and avoid costly repairs further down the line. As a first port-of-call, it might be worth us first carrying out a formal inspection of a property to highlight areas for maintenance. If you’re already aware of what needs fixing then we’re happy to get straight to work.

Some of the most common issues we come across include:

  • Broken electrical points – if you’ve noticed ‘dead zones’ around your home, let us know and we can replace the materials and restore power to that particular part of your home.
  • Regular outages – the likelihood is this is caused by a faulty consumer unit, we’ll carry out a few tests around the home and diagnose the issue before putting a solution in place.
  • Unresponsive light fittings – it’s not always as simple as changing a light-bulb, if there’s more to it than that then we’ll get to the bottom of.
